Apple Pie

Ingredients

2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup Rougemont Royal Gala apple juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 pinch of nutmeg
5 cups apples (Cortland, Empire)
1 tbsp butter, diced
1 homemade or store-bought pie crust mix
1 beaten egg

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Divide the dough in half. On a floured surface, roll out the two halves. Place one half in the bottom of the pie tin. Set aside in a cool place.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, juice, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  4. Peel and chop apples. Add to dry filling ingredients and mix well. Pour into pie shell.
  5. Scatter with butter cubes and cover with the other half of the pastry.
  6. Brush with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, until crust is golden.
  8. Reduce oven heat to 350°F and continue baking 40-45 minutes, until apples are softened.
